Explainer — 90 seconds
Exhibit A vs Exhibit B

This isn't theory. It's how the founder got 22.9M views on one Short.

Dude Perfect posted a frisbee trick-shot format. John Malecki doesn't own a frisbee — he owns a woodshop. So he stole the format, rebuilt the prop out of plywood, and threw a wooden triangle instead.

Escalating challenge: one object, three tiers — Easy, Hard, Impossible — displayed on a self-explanatory prop. Payoff on the final throw.

Same format skeleton. Prop rebuilt from plywood with CNC-cut letters. Object swapped for a shop-made wooden triangle. Double the likes of the original.

That transfer is the entire product. The reasoning John used — dissect the format, keep the skeleton, swap every noun into your world — is built into Idea Heist as its engine. You paste the winning video. It does the dissection.

What the engine actually sees

It doesn't skim the title. It takes the video apart.

This is a real dissection from the engine — Dude Perfect's frisbee Short, exactly as Idea Heist broke it down. For Shorts it reads the spoken audio and the opening frame. For long-form it extracts the title's structural skeleton and the thumbnail's job.

// Short-form dissection — actual engine output
format : escalating challenge: one object, three tiers, final-tier payoff
format_skeleton : [OBJECT] attempted at [3 escalating tiers] displayed on [self-explanatory prop]
audible_hook : "Easy, hard, and I brought a friend for impossible."
visual_hook : giant red board, three labeled slots stacked EASY / HARD / IMPOSSIBLE — readable with the sound off
beats : name the game → attempt easy → attempt hard → escalation → impossible payoff
→ idea for a woodworking channel: "Bench bolts: easy, hard, and I brought Dad for impossible."
How it works

Three steps. About ten minutes the first time.

Tell it who watches you

A conversational coach builds your audience avatar in about five minutes — who they are, what they're frustrated by, what they want. Every idea the tool ever gives you is filtered through this person. Do it once.

Paste a video that's winning

Any YouTube link — long-form or a Short, yours or a competitor's. The engine checks whether it actually overperformed its channel, then dissects the packaging: pattern, structure, hook, emotional anchor.

Get ten ideas built for you

Each one with a title that mirrors the winning structure, a thumbnail concept you could hand to an editor, and — for Shorts — the exact hook to say and the shot to open on. Save the winners, regenerate the rest.

The full toolkit

Everything between "no ideas" and "ready to film."

The Heist EngineLong-form + Shorts
Paste an overperforming video and get ten ideas that mirror its winning structure — pointed at your audience, never a copy. Shorts get the full format treatment: the engine listens to the spoken hook, reads the opening frame, and tells you exactly how to rebuild the format in your world.
Audience AvatarThe targeting system
A guided conversation that turns "my viewers" into a specific person with named frustrations and desires. It's the difference between ideas that sound like your niche and ideas that sound like your channel. Downloadable as a document you'll reuse everywhere.
Competitor IntelA menu of proven targets
Add the channels competing for your audience — long-form and short-form tracked separately. The tool pulls each one's top performers from the last two years, and every video gets a Heist button. You stop hunting for ideas; the winners come to you.
Title AnalyzerThe I.D.E.A. Ladder — Pro
Four rungs from a rough idea to a ship-ready title: ten angles ranged safe-to-bold, distilled, rewritten in your audience's own vocabulary, then amplified with numbers and stakes. Ends with one call: ship this.
Thumbnail ConceptsShot briefs, not vibes
Every long-form idea includes a thumbnail concept built on a working doctrine: the subject to shoot, whether a human belongs in frame and the exact expression, the panel format, and a text overlay capped at four words that never repeats the title.
Idea PoolYour production queue
Every idea you save lands in one bank — filterable by channel and topic, editable, exportable to a spreadsheet. Content planning starts from a stocked shelf instead of a blank page.

John Malecki is a woodworker and YouTuber who built two channels past a million subscribers each — and then built The Creator Playbook, where he coaches creators on the systems behind those numbers.

Idea Heist is one of those systems, turned into software. The dissection logic, the title patterns, the thumbnail doctrine — it's the same playbook he runs on his own channels, wired into a tool you can point at any video on YouTube.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers.

Isn't this just copying other people's videos?
No — and the engine is built to refuse that. A copy keeps the subject; a heist keeps the structure. Dude Perfect threw a frisbee; the heist threw a wooden triangle in a woodshop. The tool's hard rule: if an idea would work verbatim for the source channel, it gets replaced. Formats aren't owned by anyone — execution is.
Does it work for Shorts or just long-form?
Both, and differently. Long-form heists dissect the title's structure and the thumbnail's job. Shorts heists go deeper — the engine reads the video's spoken audio and its opening frame, extracts the format skeleton and beat map, and gives you ideas as hooks-to-say and shots-to-open-on.
What do I get on the free plan?
Three full heists a month — each one is a complete dissection plus ten ideas — along with the avatar builder, competitor tracking with heist buttons, and your Idea Pool. No card required. The Title Analyzer is the one Pro-only feature.
What makes the ideas actually fit my channel?
The avatar. You spend five minutes telling the coach who actually watches you — their frustrations, desires, and obsessions — and every idea afterward is generated through that lens, spread across your real topics instead of clustering on one. Ideas also learn from the winning videos and competitors you've saved on your channel profile.
Can I cancel Pro whenever?
Yes — self-serve from your account page, handled by Stripe's own billing portal. No emails, no retention hoops.
I'm a Creator Playbook member — do I pay?
No. Membership includes everything, unlimited. Sign up with your email, then redeem your member access code on the account page.
